PrivyPDF is a local-first macOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how PrivyPDF handles—or does not handle—your data.
1. User Data Collection
PrivyPDF does NOT collect, transmit, or harvest any personal, sensitive, or document data.
Specifically, the app does not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, account details)
- Your PDF documents or their contents
- Extracted text or questions asked
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- Device identifiers or location data
2. User Data Handling
All document processing and interactive AI operations are handled entirely on your local system:
- Document Processing: PrivyPDF processes your files and builds indexes locally on your Mac. No cloud uploading occurs.
- Local AI Inference: The app performs embeddings and chat processing via Ollama on
http://localhost:11434. PrivyPDF communicates exclusively with your local Ollama server. No data is sent to external AI providers or third-party web services.
3. User Data Storage
All application data is stored strictly on your local device. We do not maintain any cloud databases or backup servers.
- PDFs: Stored only in the app's sandboxed container directory on your Mac (
~/Library/Containers/com.kenelite.privypdf/). - Indexes & Embeddings: Built and stored locally in the app's sandboxed SQLite database.
You can remove this data at any time by deleting the PDFs from the app, clearing the app's local database, or uninstalling the application.
4. User Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or disclose your data to anyone. Since we do not collect any of your information or host any remote servers, it is technically impossible for us to share or disclose your data to third parties.
