Privacy Policy for PrivyJSON for Chrome

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Overview

PrivyJSON for Chrome (the “Extension”) formats, converts, and optionally analyzes JSON and YAML documents in the browser tab you open. This policy explains how the Extension handles that data.

Core Privacy Principle

PrivyJSON has no developer-operated account service, analytics service, advertising service, or AI relay. Formatting and conversion are processed locally in your browser.

1. Data the Extension Handles

To recognise and display a supported document, the Extension reads the JSON or YAML response content in the page where it runs. It may also handle the page URL, your AI chat messages, and an API key if you enter one for a provider.

The developers do not collect, receive, or store this data.

2. Local Processing and Storage

Document detection, formatting, and JSON/YAML conversion run locally in Chrome. To provide the requested features, the Extension uses Chrome extension storage on your device for:

You can clear a saved conversation in the document chat. Clearing extension data or uninstalling the Extension removes its locally stored settings and conversations.

3. Optional AI Providers

AI chat is optional. Only after you configure a provider and send an AI message does PrivyJSON send your message and the relevant current-document context directly to the endpoint you selected.

Use AI only with providers you trust, especially when a document contains credentials, personal data, or confidential information.

4. No Sale, Advertising, or Tracking

We do not sell user data, use it for personalised advertising, or track users across websites. PrivyJSON contains no developer- operated telemetry or analytics. Data is not shared with the developers; the sole external transfer is an AI request that you explicitly submit to your chosen provider.
