Privacy Policy — PrivyFeed
Last updated: May 2026
PrivyFeed is a local-first, privacy-first AI RSS reader for macOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how PrivyFeed handles—or does not handle—your data.
1. User Data Collection
PrivyFeed does NOT collect, harvest, or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.
Specifically, the app does not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, account details)
- Your RSS feeds subscription URLs or credentials
- Extracted article content or notes
- Generated digests, summaries, or vector embeddings
- Usage analytics, behavioral tracking, or telemetry
- Device identifiers or location data
2. User Data Handling
All feed fetching, article parsing, and AI operations are processed locally on your system:
- RSS Feeds & Articles: The app fetches RSS and Atom feed content directly from the URLs you add via HTTP/HTTPS. In reading mode, it fetches the full web page to extract body text.
- Local AI Inference: All AI features (summarization, trend analysis, digests, vector indexing) run 100% locally on your Mac's CPU/GPU via your configured local Ollama instance (defaulting to
localhost). No data is sent to external AI servers or third-party AI APIs.
3. User Data Storage
All app configurations, subscription links, cached articles, and AI vector data are stored locally:
- RSS feeds & Articles: Subscription URLs, cached text, and metadata are saved locally in the app's SQLite database.
- Semantic index: Local vector embeddings for feed Q&A are built and stored locally on your device.
- App Settings: App preferences, theme choices, and local Ollama server configuration are stored in the device's local UserDefaults.
All stored data remains strictly on your device and is accessible only to this application. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your cache or database, or by uninstalling the application.
4. User Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to any party. All network requests (excluding local Ollama calls) are standard HTTP fetches to RSS feed hosts of your choosing. No analytics or tracking SDKs are integrated into the app.
