Overview

PrivyExtract ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how PrivyExtract handles data and what information is collected, used, or shared.

Core Privacy Principle

PrivyExtract operates entirely locally on your device. No data is collected, transmitted, or stored externally by the extension or its developers.

1. User Data Collection

PrivyExtract does NOT collect, harvest, or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.

Specifically, the extension does not collect:

• Web page content or selected text
• Summaries or generated AI content
• Browsing history or URLs visited
• Personal information (names, email addresses, accounts)
• Usage statistics, telemetry, or analytics
• Device information or location data

2. User Data Handling

Your data is handled locally within your browser and your local system:

• Content Extraction: When you request a summary, PrivyExtract extracts text from the current web page or your selected text. This extraction happens entirely in your browser memory.
• Local Processing: The extracted content is sent only to your local Ollama service running on your own machine (by default at http://127.0.0.1:11434).
• No Cloud Transmission: All communication is between your browser and your local Ollama instance. No data is sent to external servers, cloud services, or third-party APIs.

3. User Data Storage

PrivyExtract does not store your browsing history, page contents, or generated summaries.

The extension only stores the following configuration parameters locally on your device using Chrome's local storage:

• Ollama URL — The network address of your local Ollama service (default: http://127.0.0.1:11434)
• Model Name — The name of the local AI model you prefer to use (e.g., "qwen2.5:7b")
• Summary Preferences — Your preferred summary type and length settings

This data is stored only on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be deleted at any time by clearing the extension's storage or uninstalling the extension.

4. User Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to any party. All processing happens locally on your device, and no data is shared with the extension developers or any third-party services.
